Aqua demons inhabit the cold, murky depths of Aquinus, the first demi-plane of Chaosium and are among the lesser demons of that realm. They resemble translucent, scaled, green-hued miniature humanoids. Their hands and feet are webbed, and their gills, spine, and torso all bristle with spines and webbed crests. They often swim in packs.
In combat, aqua demons use their long claws to dig into their opponent's flesh. If both claws hit, the aqua demon holds onto its victim for continuous damage (1d6 per round, though a successful STR check breaks the hold). Aqua demons may also use a ranged attacked called cold current, which is a 20' surge of super-chilled water. The demon may use the current once every three rounds; anyone within 5' of the current's length or terminus suffers 2d6 points of damage (save vs. paralysis for half-damage ).
Once per day, aqua demons may attempt to gate additional demons with a 25% chance of success. If the gate succeeds, 1d4 additional aqua demons (85%) or a single picean demon (15%) appears.
Aqua demons are particular vulnerable to fire, and they suffer maximum damage against such attacks . Fortunately for them, their watery environment all but negates this threat. In fact, aqua demons are incapable of moving about or attacking on land (though they can breath air for up to an hour). Out of water, aqua demons may use their gate ability.
When summoned to the Prime Plane, aqua demons are comfortable in waters of any temperature, whether freshwater or brine, and have been known to infest rivers, lakes, swamps, as well as tropical seas and deep oceans.
