Wood giants are the least of commonly known giant-kin, standing roughly 8-10 feet high. Despite their size, their features are aethestic and their movement lithe; to view them as physically large elves is not entirely inaccurate. As a race wood giants are good-natured and friendly with forest-folk. Like their giant brethren, wood giants are territorial, though not normally aggressive, and they willingly share their woodland ranges with nearby elves, centaurs, and other sylvan creatures. Despite this cooperative outlook, however, wood giants move into forceful action at the news of anyone damaging forest land or harming woodland inhabitants. In such cases, all wood giants in the general area muster to slay the offenders and repair whatever damage they can.
In combat, wood giants wear light armour: greaves, bracers, and breastplates of leather. They eschew shields and favour great bows, which they wield with no less than Skilled weapon mastery. A favourite tactic of wood giants is to use their ability to move silently and hide in underbrush (80% chance in familiar territory) to launch devistating ambushes against foes. If pressed into melee, wood giants wield great spears or swords (treat as a lance or two-handed sword, respectively). Wood giants do not throw boulders.
Most wood giants possess superiour Strength and Dexterity; to determine exact values, consult the following table, rolling once for each abililty:
| 2d6 Roll | Ability Score | AC/Missile Adj. | Melee Adj. |
| 2 - 6 | 9 - 12 | 0 | 0 |
| 7 - 9 | 13 - 15 | +1 | +1 |
| 10 - 11 | 16 - 17 | +2 | +2 |
| 12 | 18 | +3 | +3 |
Wood giants often invite to their settlement any goodly creatures encountered, particularly if such beings evince their support of the surrounding woodland. Wood giant settlements are always well-hidden, protected by both traps along the perimeter and regular guard patrols who make silent and concealed sweeps. For every five wood giants in a settlement, there is a leader with 7+4 HD; while this worthy is about, the morale of other wood giants is raised to 11.
